And harbor freight sells handheld electric engravers which are typically used to put your name/initials on (harbor freight tbf) tool steel, so brass would be fine.

I need a video tutorial on engraving brass, because that all seems like too much to fit in a couple centimeters and still be legible.
Like is it some inkjet/ etching process?

And casings are often steel, they’re just called “brass” probably for historical reasons, and they’re colored like brass. Some are brass, but not all.

Hand engraving? not in the least.
Machine engraving? again no. More like a water jet with a burr bit. Can do fine work with ease.
