Oh my god, this is adorable. Who is the artist, please?
The artist is Tyroo! Here’s a link to her FurAffinity account (SFW without an account), but you can also find a lot of her art on e6 if you are so inclined :3
Out of curiosity, is estrogen as thick and painful as testosterone is when injecting?
Mine is fine. On occasion it burns a little but i think that’s a manufacturing thing. My last two vials have been quite nice.
Kinda? I’ve gotten used to it tho.
Isn’t it nicer with pills though? I don’t know anything about estrogen options. Is it only once in a while like with testosterone, so you don’t have to remember?
Injection works WAY better than pills and is easier on your liver. But there are sharp things and a reasonably high level of coordination required, so they want to try something else first.
It’s weekly to fortnightly. I think whether pills are nicer or not is a matter of personal opinion, especially around needles. There’s other factors too, pills have a very short half-life so your levels peak and trough over the course of a day instead of over a whole week or two. You can also generally get closer to average levels for cis women as well. Plus some side-effects like your liver working harder are eliminated.
Also, besides what some of the other comments said estradiol taken orally can increase blood clots/thromboses. It’s really up to preference though. I started with patches, but switched to injections because despite some of the annoyances, the upside of only needing do an injection once a week instead of changing patches 2-4 times a week was very welcome, and needing to have a bunch of patches (and the residue they’d leave) on my skin was getting a bit annoying. But at the end of the day whatever works best for someone is the best method to use!
It usually doesn’t hurt for me, but maybe I’m just better at it than most.

absolutely nothing in this image suggests illegal drug use.
and even if it is illegal, so fucking what? it shouldn’t be, and nobody should obey or respect unjust laws.
I wonder, would you say the same thing about someone helping a diabetic with their insulin injections?

This isn’t fetishizing it.

What the complete and actual fuck?
This is absolutely fetishizing. It’s applying a sexual aspect to the injection of E.
There is absolutely nothing sexual in this image. The artist’s submission is rated General. There are no genitals or breasts exposed and there isn’t the slightest hint of anything suggestive.
You would say there is nothing sexual about the image here? Portraying two anthropomorphic dogs in their underwear. Implying a relationship between them with the collars on the wall and implied top/bottom roles?
Being in underwear is not inherently sexual. Relationships are not inherently sexual, and sexual relationships are not constantly engaging in sexual activity. Collars on the wall of a bedroom of canine characters is not inherently sexual, and I genuinely don’t agree with you that there is anything that suggests top/bottom roles.
The artist also does NSFW art, so they actively fetishize these characters.
This is not one of those pieces of art, so you are just spouting complete nonsense.
Again, apply this concept to diabetics. What about diabetics who can’t afford to buy all the insulin they need? For example, do you think a poor diabetic should be discouraged from taking expired or improperly stored insulin when their only alternative option is not taking any insulin at all? (example I found in this study)
What I’m getting at here is that hormone therapy is a medical treatment that can and does save lives and improves quality of life - not just for trans people either. And in this current era of transphobic fascism, I think it’s kinda fucked up to imply to, say, trans folks in red states that may be banning HRT this sort of “oh well, if you can’t get your life-saving medication through the proper channels, you should just go without” idea.
At least, that’s how my perspective as a cis dude is interpreting what you’re saying in the context of the world right now.

I don’t understand why two people shouldn’t help each other with their medication. It’s sweet to take care of each other, whether they’re partners or just friends.
I want to elaborate on your point a little and hopefully alleviate some downvotes. Or maybe I’ll attract them myself, who knows.
In a truly ideal world, yes. DIY injections shouldn’t be necessary and people should be encouraged to seek out diagnosis and care from trained and accessible professionals. In such a world a message like this would encourage potentially harmful behaviour.
Even lacking such a world, it could be argued that portraying this in a positive and accepting light may lead to complacency. Id est, we don’t need to work so hard for change because at least we have these nice cozy looking options.
I do not think the latter is a real risk given the plethora of other difficulties anyone going through this can experience. People have plenty of other reasons to fight.
The simple reality is that the current situation for many people is abysmal and getting treatment in a manner such as this is the only way it will ever happen for them. If someone is doing DIY HRT out of necessity it’s the least we can do to make them feel more comfortable about it.
I agree with you that this is not, in the grand scheme, a “good” scenario. Just be very careful when calling it out as undesirable that the call is directed in such as way so as not to demonize the victims.
I can’t even see the original comment but I’ll just say I often help my gf with her estrogen injections and it’s a very similar vibe to this pic. It’s dope and imma keep doing it and anyone with a problem with it can die mad about it.
