These are employment contracts which say that you if you work as a cook, you can’t the work as a cook at any other restaurant in the state. They have the effect of pushing down wages.
Representatives for the people no more. Republicans have become full-on enemies of the people
When was the conservative project ever about being “for the people”, though? These are the same morons that would have been Loyalists in the Revolutionary War.
Yes, but even their most ardent supporters can’t “justify” this one, so hopefully some more will join the growing resistance. Republicans keep doing short-sighted shit that chips away at their base of support, which is why they’re trying to rig elections until they can ultimately find a way to do away with them entirely. Hopefully, enough of their base gets “woke” enough to stop them before then.
“Always has been.”
The evil capitalist pig is supporting wage suppressive tactics? Say it ain’t so!!!
In my experience, non-compete agreements don’t hold water in any court. You can’t prevent someone from working and earning a living. There’s no ‘consideration’ there.
Correct, but they serve the intended purpose, which is to make people worried exercising their rights will get them dragged into court and bankrupt them or worse. That’s enough to dissuade most people.
It’s true that the mere prospect of being bankrupted is enough to scare most people. When only the rich and powerful can afford legal representation, the systems serves only them. We need a reform of that system almost as bad as we need electoral reform.
