Conflation is antisemitic, and blaming Canadian Jews for what Israel is doing is unacceptable. I think we should be asking Canada’s Jewish communities to use their special relationship(s) with Israel to apply maximum pressure to stop the genocide and famine.
I think you should write a letter to your MP first. The Israeli ambassador second. A local Israeli consular official third (if applicable). Your MLA/MPP fourth. Any organizations you’re part of that have a special relationship with Israel.
…Then talk to your Jewish friends to explain that you’ve reached out to the people most responsible for communicating with Israel, but if they feel they have a special relationship with Israel you’d really appreciate it if they’d use whatever influenece they have to make it clear that Canada’s Jewish community doesn’t support the genocide of Gaza.
CBC’s podcast Front Burner recently did an interview with a UNICEF worker that had just returned from Gaza, it’s heartbreaking.
