Apple was Mandated to allow different app stores, but you still need a valid signature in order to install those, so you still need an apple account, you still need to put in your full name, and you still need to pay them 100€\Year for the licence.
Also, Apple can still Revoke anyone’s signature if they don’t like your Apps.
Google is doing the exact same, basically „You can sideload from other App stores, but every app needs our approved Signature” that apple is still doing in the EU
That does look like a loophole. The whole idea about having different store is to take control away from them. If they still decide what can go in and what can not what is the point of side loading?
EU mandated Apple to allow sideloading, can we have a state like California to mandate sideloading in it’s state? This is anticompetitive practice.
God, I miss Lina Khan
You are misinformed.

They still have their app store.
Lina Kahn is one of my favorite modern political figures
If the EU mandated it from Apple, how are Google managing to get around that?

Maybe Google will do everywhere except EU, or maybe they found a loophole?
See my comment on this thread, but TL;DR
Apple still requires signatures for side loading.

Even if they found a loophole, the loophole would be closed, otherwise apple would do the same.
