Now is the time to push to get every eligible voter in Texas to the polls. The new maps likely had to be drawn with relatively thin leads in all the districts. A large democratic turn out combined with low turn out among disillusioned or over-confident republican voters could result in Democratic wins where not expected. Enough democratic outrage over this could make it blow up in the republican’s face.

how the fuck are you gonna tell a bunch of texas democrats to get out and fight even harder against even more overwhelming gerrymandering when their supposed representatives allowed this to happen by giving up their quorum break? all that performative bullshit at the capitol “uuhh, am i gonna be arrested?” Yeah lady, the court and the congress and their police goons are agreed in their illegal conspiracy to defraud you of your voice and you walked into their fucking hands after they told you what their plan was. She thought, she actually fucking thought she was gonna get something done, raise some sort of alarm or awareness or give the democrats some sort of legal position from which to fight back. And now the maps are passed, because she enabled the use of her position and authority as a pawn for the opposite side instead of refusing to play the game she knew, god and all these witnesses know, is fucking rigged.

I am hoping that the democratic voters will unleash their rage at this and get their asses to the polls and vote in record numbers. It kind of feels like our only hope.

It depends on how many of the gerrymandered districts are packed (large Democratic majorities) and how many are cracked (Democratic population centers are split up into multiple districts with small-ish Republican majorities). Cracked districts can be won if Democrats turn out in record numbers. Packed districts just produce more lopsided majorities in favor of the Democratic candidate.

Of course, this gerrymander is only one of the voter suppression tactics that Texas Republicans will use to lower Democratic turnout.

I can’t blame you for wanting hope at all. But… this aint it homie. if your only hope is being proffered by a person who evidently can’t even stick up for themselves, what chance do they have of helping you?

Texas Democrats are still the minority in Texas. Until the Democrats start offering sweeping reforms that pretty much everyone in the country wants, they will get clobbeted in the next election
