I was hoping that it was a golden statue of Donald Trump, that would have been much cooler and much more appropriate for kissing the feet of the King.

If you buy Apple products for some reason I can’t fathom, remember this: some of your money will have paid for a golden statue for Donald Trump.
I wouldn’t feel good holding that iPhone in my hand knowing that…
Could you direct us to some ethically sourced smartphones?
Think this might be what you’re looking for https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairphone
Oh, wow thank you this looks rad actually. Notable for US users: it appears to only work with T-mobile

And pretty much everything else you buy benefits slave labor in china or elsewhere. You literally can’t escape it. Apple is not the sole problem here.
There’s no sole company to blame for global issues, but you can sure as hell stop consuming products from companies who so openly and shamelessly bend the knee to the fascist Trump.
That’s a constant across all of digital technology. So the only way to avoid it is to not use the technology.
But if you do, buying Apple means you are supporting the base level slave labour in China + support for Trump + a locked in ecosystem + a cycle of planned obsolescence. There are other products you can buy that subtract from this equation and may add in some benefits.

Still better than dealing with Androids UX.
They are so similar now.
Similar, and that’s the problem. Google half assed copied Apples swipes, but had to maintain the same functionality as the 3 buttons so it’s jank as hell. Every time they copy Apple they do it in a worse way, instead of trying to do their own (good) thing.
