I haven’t tested this with my parents (I mean I’m not gonna commit a crime just to test their reaction lol), but the vibes I’m getting is that they don’t care as long as (1) it’s not homicide against innocent people, and (2) I’m not using drugs, and (3) I don’t get caught doing it (because they’ll “lose face” or something)
Like I talk about digital piracy and they’re like: “cool, save a lot of money, very smart”, if it was shoplifting, they’d worry about me getting caught, not the legal/moral implications, same as if I were to, hypothetically, commit tax fraud, they don’t give a shit lol. Which, despite how shitty and abusive my parents are and I very hate them for most things, I kinda do appreciate the fact that they just have zero respect for the law lol
I mean like… they won’t talk, but if they feel like they’re gonna get in trouble, they will definitely throw me under the bus
P.S. Don’t confess your crimes here, this is about a hypothetical situation.
Mine is similar except the theft part. Stealing from a local store I’d be a little pissed at my kid, but from Amazon or another company that reports BILLIONS in PROFIT? Nah, fuck them, just don’t get caught.
As for the murder, I’d help hide the body and then need a full detailed reason why. Sometimes it’s not the murder, but why. I trust my kid enough to not do it stupidly or randomly, there’s be a reason. SA? bullying? Abuse? I’d side with my kid first 100%.
We saw the Malcolm in the middle episode where Craig called and said Malcolm threw eggs at his house and Lois went apeshit on Malcolm without even asking him. It was 100% a lie to get Malcolm to come over and help setup a new entertainment center. I paused it right then and told my kid if anyone ever called me with some shit like that, I’d pretty much call them a liar until I got his side of the story, no question.
