I bought a banana tree in August of 2021 and never thought it would actually fruit. I was walking by it the other night and saw something purple/maroon out of the corner of my eye. Popped my head between some leaves and was greeted by some baby bananas!

Wow she’s beautiful. A dwarf banana tree? Or full size? Now I’m concerned that the one I have in my indoor pond is going to get too huge.

Yeah. It’s a dwarf cavendish. It’s about 6 feet tall to the end of the leaves

Wow okay. If mine gets that big I’ll be prepared with how I’ll keep her in my pond. Let’s see!!

Yep! Some platinum medaka (japanese rice fish), a whole dozen white cloud mountain minnows, some shy peacock gudgeons, and a bunch of goofy gold laser corys. And so many orange shrimp and some snails.

So far not really. The plants keep the water clean, the fish produce fertilizer for the plants. A bunch of different microfauna help with the cycle and also provide tasty snacks for the fish in between feedings. I can leave for about a week at a time and everything is fine.

Two things recently were I had to set up a snail trap to reduce their population, and I’m currently dealing with a cloudy water situation where normally it’s crystal clear.
