I bought a banana tree in August of 2021 and never thought it would actually fruit. I was walking by it the other night and saw something purple/maroon out of the corner of my eye. Popped my head between some leaves and was greeted by some baby bananas!
Sweet! It’s too cold in NW Florida so ours dies down to the ground and comes back in the spring. We’ll never see fruit.
I live in Idaho. It became big enough that it was annoying getting it outside in the summers so it has been living indoors exclusively for the past 2-ish years
I’ve heard of people having luck with them fruiting in Dallas Tx, it’s a similar climate. Though the bananas it produces won’t taste good unless they’re grilled like plantains, they’ll likely be too starchy and fibrous to eat otherwise.
