I like the sound of “EmptyPromisesAboutTheWrongTopicsSocial” or maybe “StatusQuoKeepersSocial”.
Yup, up in Canada the ndp, greens and liberals need to switch to Mastodon already!
Even Trump already did, sort of.
Nazis live on Twitter now. No one should want to be there.
Twitter was bad long before Elon bought it.
The most impressive thing Elon ever did was that he managed to make twitter worse somehow.
Don’t think that’s why they lost
It’s part of why they lost and a big part of why they’ll keep losing. Everyone says they have no message. But how would we know if they did? They have no place to put it.
“And a big part of why they’ll keep losing”
This isn’t an issue with them not trying, they are but lemmy is a slow transition and hard to understand. It’s why the politicians and major folks who did transition to bluesky aren’t being credited. They are running to an inferior platform with less reach in your own argument.
Hence it is a lose/lose situation. Why? No major social media is being crowdbacked by communities outside of what lemmy itself is. For every techie there is an ideal, but none can agree on the leadership and management position of backing such a thing.
Xkcd comic of new best replacing old. If techies agreed on one they would make progress. Instead windows beats linux, and lemmy will stay fragmented.
While we all agree, minutiae dominates.
No major social media is being crowdbacked by communities outside of what lemmy itself is.
But that’s exactly where the Democratic party could help. Their primary activity is fundraising. With all the money they spend hiring pop stars to sing at events, they could be creating an actual media presence for themselves instead.
Popstars are part of that media presence, notice how you just talked about it. It promotes talking and influence through connotation. Media presence is not as powerful as on foot presence, on street presence, and as united.
The democratic party should be like the main alternative in unity and parity. Not due to disagreement but for the sake of progress. However most folks do not see the antifascist groundwork that is Christianity, and it’s importance in philosophy.
Why would you need a place to put something you don’t have?
The thing that “internet people” don’t get is that not everyone sits on a computer every day. There are millions of people who don’t. You don’t win elections by being popular on twitter.
