When eight men in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement boarded a plane in May, officials told them that they were being sent on a short trip from Texas to another ICE facility in Louisiana.
Many hours later, the plane landed in Djibouti. The men were held in shipping containers for weeks, shackles on their legs. This past weekend, they were expelled to the violence-plagued nation of South Sudan.
This deception, revealed by an Intercept investigation, highlights the lengths to which the U.S. government will go to further its anti-immigrant agenda and deport people to so-called third countries to which they have no connections.
A lot of those bots and propagandists really are slaves, not just traitors. There’s an NPR episode about it.
You’d be surprised the effect on young people.
I don’t think I would be. They’re really good at spycraft, isolationism, and killing anyone even remotely seen as disloyal.
I’ve found the most efficient way to recognise any Russians on Lemmy is just to ask them to verify whether they think Putler’s a douche. And also not let them get away with vague shit like “oh yeah all world leaders are”, because then they’re not condemning Putin, who has an ICC warrant out for him for warcrimes.
The education and social pressure.
But hey please link a document if you’ve got one I’m not afraid of seeing whether I’m correct about being surprised.
100%, you’re right. They really cannot criticze Putin. I do pretty good by just demanding they argue in good faith, and whatever their scripts are, they refuse to do so. I think it’s intentional “crazy making” behavior. I’ve also had success asking “Are you a slave? NPR says bots like you are slaves. Do you need help?” And I often get blocked, they delete their comments, and/or refuse to engage. And those guys engage on EVERYTHING.
I just more meant that a lot of younger people (eg 18 or so) have been propagandized and made antisocial from these online interactions from my experiences. Stuff like blowing up irl over the use of the word ‘colonizer’ even in factual historical context, as if it’s a swear word? Or like the way they treat women, or question if Anne Frank was real. Shit that you’re like- how tf do you think this way? I’ve NEVER heard people say the Anne Frank thing irl or even online until this year. We read about the poor girl’s period for Christ’s sake. The propaganda campaigns are just really hard on them especially, plus many of them are poor and wanna be influencers that take easy psyop money.
Want to tack on that wars really only benefit the wealthy who don’t fight them. They are a trick they get us to do to thin the herd, especially of other men, and steal the things we leave behind. Self defense is understandable but it’s good to be suspicious of who really wins these things.
