A new oil pipeline to British Columbia is high on the list of projects that Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government will deem to be of national importance, according to multiple news reports.
How conservatives hate a party that keeps buying them pipelines is beyond me.
But looking at the Fairy Creek resistance I think Carney is underestimating how many people are willing to physically fight to protect the environment. The RCMP have really only been dealing with non-violent protestors. People who believed the government would step in and do what’s right. When that faith is gone all bets are off.
A lot of British Columbians are looking south at Washington to California and wondering if we have more in common with them than Ontario… and Carney is certainly not helping.
Disgusting and entirely unsurprising. Canada continues on it’s path of neoliberal hellscape.
