this is tantamount to changing who you are in order to find out how people feel about you
That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Especially as one could just as easily spin this in a more empathetic light: in acknowledging one’s own desire to be seen, we can realise that it’s likely that many other people feel similarly.
That, but also when I do actually ask and they list a bunch of things they like about me and I am just sitting there like “I don’t believe a word this lying bitch is saying.”
