@[email protected] That’s an awesome looking microphone! Is that a microphone you use regularly, or is it more for shack decoration, which I would completely understand?
@[email protected] It’s been both. Most recently I’ve not been using it in lieu of using headphones, so my wife doesn’t have to hear the radio blasting at times. 😂 I also don’t have a lot of room in front of my radio on the desk, I recently shifted some things to make more space, so it may make a return to regular use, which I’d like.
@[email protected] Even though my wife would never hear me while I’m on the radio, I always prefer to use a headset. I never had a desk mic, exactly because of the space reason you mentioned. I once had a boom mic for a while that I rarely used, and didn’t bother to reinstall when we moved here.
@[email protected] I used a boom mic when I was recording voice overs etc. for training videos when I worked at Apple. They do also take up less space on your desktop… I think the audio is actually a little better from the speaker on my radio than on the Heil Pro-7 headset, but the headset has other options and my wife doesn’t complain about me cranking up the volume to try to hear a low voice among the noise on SSB. 😂
@[email protected] 🤣 I hear ya! I never tried any of their Pro line stuff. Right now I’m using the Audio Technica BPHS1 headset. It has a nice very long non-coiIed cord. I used to use Sony MDR-7506 headphones with a ModMic boom mic attached to it for ham stuff that I really liked. I have way too many headphones, I’m afraid. For every type of listening I have a favorite set of cans. 😄 It’s rare that I don’t use headphones. That’s probably why my lil’ avatar has headphones on. 😄
@[email protected] Haha, makes sense! Now I’ll think of that whenever I see your avatar… I like that my Heil headphone are mostly very long straight cord, but then there’s one coiled section that just about a foot long as insurance vs. stretching, but it’s not long enough to have the usual coil drawbacks.
