There have been a number of ST episodes that made me ugly cry. That one Neelix episode was one of them. I felt we could have gone deeper with Tuvok so that we as an audience would have given more of a shit about him.

Mortal Coil? Joking aside, Neelix became a lot more tolerable to me after Kes left the show so half his deal stopped being what a controlling creep he was with her. I’ll admit he had some good episodes and solid character development over time.

I do have to agree there. Neelix + Kes was creepy. Not just because of his jealousy, but also the fact she was like, 3, and he acted not just like a jealous boyfriend, but also like a father figure. shudders Ugh!

          It’s a complete mess -

          • “So, he’s really into this three year old…”
          • “Oh no!”
          • “No, it’s not like that! Her people age rapidly, so she’s actually fully mature.”
          • “Huh. Well, I guess maybe…”
          • “Yeah, but he does totally act like her father, anyway. A super jealous insecure father.”
          • “Does her family have something to say about this?”
          • “Oh, they leave behind her entire race and everything she knows in the first episode. But he proooobably didn’t pressure her into it?”
          • “Probably??”
          • “They decide it offscreen. Anyway, he’s the ship’s lovable goofball!”
