Definitely do! It’s a tad hard for me personally, but since DLC update, you can change the difficulty settings, luckily, so you can cater the difficulty of the game to your wants and needs.
It’s cool to hear about happenings that are alluded to in the base game. The story is a little more streamlined and more explicitly told - even more so than in the base game - but it’s not a bad change.
And the weapons are phenomenal so far. Lots of cool, original designs. There’s a particular boss weapon I’m quite fond of right now.
Intended this to be a short answer, but I realised that I had more to say on this than anticipated, so here are some of my unfiltered thoughts. :D
It was a mixed bag. I’d be lying if I said I breezed through the game. There were quite a couple of bosses who posed to be a bit of a roadblock. There were also some levels that were just very tedious and hard at the same time.
The Watchman was quite hard at first, but at that point, I probably wasn’t quite in the required game flow. Then there was the Green Swamp Monster (or whatever it’s called) that stomped me for quite a while. Before that, the Puppet King stumped me for a loong while. The last three bosses were also really difficult - especially the true final boss. I think for all three of them I had to either use summons or had to look up “cheese” tactics. For example, the third to last boss is really weak to acid, so using the acid grindstone melted her first phase. Or the true final boss could be managed with the shield legion arm. But even after 4-5 playthroughs, I haven’t mastered their fights - they’re still that difficult.
You get better at the game and get used to the difficult bosses is what I’m trying to say. They’re still really difficult - some for good reasons, some for worse (shoutouts to the Black Rabbit Brotherhood fights) - but still difficult.
The level design was usually manageable, but some levels and enemy placements were just brutal on my first playthrough(s). The Arche Abbey, for example, is just soo long and so much is going on, I wouldn’t be surprised if the vast majority of players had trouble seeing it to the end.
Luckily, the difficulty options allow you to somewhat alleviate these issues. With the game’s most recent update where the difficulty for repeat playthroughs was tuned down a little for the DLC, I’m managing fine on the default difficulty, but up until then I had to lower it down a notch to “Awakened Puppet”. I was dying to basic enemies super easily and was a two-shot to the two firdt bosses I fought. Despite being on NG++ and having basically maxed out stats, I just kept dying left and right.
So yea, the difficulty was quite high for me in the base game, more so than in Sekiro, I feel like, who’s one of the two major inspirations for LoP alongside Bloodborne, I’d wager. Sekiro had some very difficult bosses, but once you got parrying down, you were cruising. I think I’ve played through the game like 6 times or so? Including ringing the demon bell and playing without Kuro’s charm, and I still don’t struggle with the game as much as I sometimes do/did with LoP. The bosses are a lot more aggressive at times and use varied attacks, including AoE attacks and magic, where it just gets very difficult to keep up.
What’s the red one? From Nightreign?
It’s from the new Lies of P DLC. You get is as a reward from a sorta mini boss, relatively early
Oh that’s sexy.
I’ve got to try it I bought it and promptly forgot I did.

How did you find the base game?
I found the difficulty spikes were a little more then I’m used to personally.
