Google is killing Android Instant Apps, a feature that lets you try mobile apps without installing them, because nobody used them.
The idea was pretty dumb, since you could just make a website with all the needed functionality to “instantly load without installation”, which too many apps should’ve been in the first place
If only most of these products were about providing a good product and not just a way for them to collect as much data as they can, maybe they would have stayed websites instead of individual apps.
Pretty much. The idea was great, it just limited bad actors too much
Apps had to be developed in a specific way to support this, and it was a hassle not worth the investment, so most didn’t.
I didn’t even know this existed until now.
