The overwhelmingly majority of the time online that I see someone saying the military is one sided, they are referring to it being for the right. The structure of your sentence makes it sound like a caution or possibly a threat that the military will back the right. I absolutely agree a civil war would be devastating, but I don’t see it happening. My take is once Trump is convicted the media will finally feel they have the freedom to make their separation they’ve been saying they wanted to do in private for years, but have been too scared to make.
