Arab countries have been trying to make peace with Israel based on the same premise but Israel -Likud and right wing parties particularly- reject any Palestinian statehood.

Our region has attracted invaders throughout history from the Greeks and Romans of antiquity to the Mongols and Crusaders of the medieval era to modern European and US colonialism and imperialism due to its location, and nothing inherently wrong with us.
It’s wasn’t the ethnic cleansing of Jews that was bad, it was the ethnic cleansing of Jews that was bad.
The more Israelis who wake up to this, the better.
