I don’t think it’s about fear. I think it’s about seething hatred and resentment. They have been made to feel stupid, intolerant, backwards, racist, etc. and Trump and the right wing billionaire owned corporate media have told them that they are right to be angry and resentful and definitely shouldn’t try to better themselves in order to manipulate them into voting for fascism against their own self-interest and the interests of their wives and daughters and the country.
