It’s an honored slasher film tradition.
So when do we get Jigsaw Takes Manhattan, or Jig in the Hood?
Jig in the Hood
Jesus dude, careful there. 😶
Thanks for the honest laugh from me.
Saw: Dream Warriors please
There have also been eight subsequent Friday 13th-related movies since its “Final Chapter” :-)
I just watched all the “Final Destination” movies and the 4th one is called “The Final Destination”. Then the went on to make a 5th, and a 6th is in production.
The next one should always be “the search for more money”.
The kids love this one!
I can’t wait for the 16th mainline installment of Final Fantasy to be released on PC.
No that’s different because
To be fair, they do kind of start over with most of them. It’s basically a franchise that reboots with every iteration!
Just put the year first :P
This is true.
If it’s in a list with other films with years first, you wouldn’t be about to visually scan by letter, though. Two “Saw” films could be separated by hundreds of others in between.
I think this would work.
FRANCHISE (YEARRELEASED) TITLE [FORMAT]
That looks solid.
Honestly, if you could just put metadata tags on files and if file search on non-Mac machines didn’t take ages, it wouldn’t even matter.
With the right roftware its reasonably easy to read and rewrite metadata/format a new file name in large batches but it’s not something I’d expect the average person to touch.
Yeah, my solution would also be awkward dealing with most movies that are one of stories and the there are some weird technicalities where deciding if a movie is form one franchise or a somehow crossover series from a different studio. Where it would need some arbitrary decision making.
MMIX
Saw VII: The Final Chapter…
…
Saw VIII
Saw IX
Saw X
There is no Saw 9. Like Windows 10, Saw X comes right after 8
It’s in alphabetical order and IX is definitely there. Unless I’m missing some other joke.
Oh crap you’re totally right lmao. My eyes glazed right over it
To be fair, same, though thankfully I noticed just before saying anything dumb 😂😝
Produced by Tom Brady.
The Final Chapter 2: Electric Boogaloo
They are ordered correctly, alphabetically.
Thatsthejoke.jpg
Are all correctly ordered? – No.
Which one is wrong? – Nein.
Saw VI in French takes a whole new meaning…
Saw XI takes a whole new meaning in China.
What does it mean?
“Saw six” is pronounced like “saucisse” which mean sausage.
“six” in english translates to “six” in french
i don’t know what to do with this information
You write it six in French but pronounce it “cis”
that just sounds like saying “six” with a french accent
im not sure i believe you
Bah fais comme tu veux, mais j’ai raison.
Whereas Saw X in English just sounds warm and comfortable.
Yeah it was wild hearing about it on Saw Con lol
I would regularily joke with my friend about going to eat some saw V sequels
Use Unicode Roman Numerals (U+2160 to U+216B), they are correctly sorted:
Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, Ⅵ, Ⅶ, Ⅷ, Ⅸ, Ⅹ, Ⅺ, Ⅻ
Fun fact: In France, Saw VI and Saw VII skipped the numbers because Saw 6 is pronounced like saucisse (sausage) and Saw 7 is pronounced like someone having a lisp saying chaussette (sock)
I thought maybe translating “saw” is better, but nah, “La scicisse” et “la sciecette” is pretty cursed too
well, I would have actually watch it!

Weird plex, but okay.
Even better, you can do it by editing the “sort title” so even in the library they show up in the order you prefer. So in this case I’d change them to be “Saw 01” through “Saw 10” and I won’t have to mess with a different view for those circumstances. I do need to go back through and edit a handful more of my movies because I’ve slacked off lately.

Yeah it’s not the end-all-be-all solution for sure, but it helps for a large majority of movie series. I also use Plex Meta Manager to automatically create collections nightly for series, actors, genres, and even a handful of playlists.
Edit: and to add onto your example of Bond, yeah I just make that a playlist because it’d be way too confusing for me and most people who watching from my server.
Another use for ‘sort title’ is for making collections for things like actors, directors, decades, genres, etc and then sticking them at the top of the library by appending special characters or numbers to the beginning of the sort title, like '#001 Steven Spielberg Collection’s
Star Wars and Indiana Jones also have this issue with inconsistent titles, which make the default sorting annoying.
I always liked to use year instead of number. That way it sorts the same and if there end up being more than 9 I don’t have to go back and rename it to 09.
Now I use Jellyfin with the auto collection plugin. It does a great job of grouping everything correctly.
I just always do it out of habit when I number movies because of the rare possibility of a series going into double digits. Obviously I wouldn’t need to ever worry about it with LOTR or anything that is definitely over, but regardless it’s not painful to go back and edit.
Edit: also I’ve considered switching to Jellyfin myself, but I’ve had a Plex Lifetime membership since line 2014 and as annoying as they sometimes are about emailing me, I do like the polish it has.
You can also just change the sort title in the options.
Rocky VII, Adrian’s Revenge!
Roman numerals, they never even tried to teach us that in school.
It’s the MegaMan situation all over again XD

Reminder that VIIII is a valid way to write 9 in Roman numerals.
