- Why the fuck would I want that? That sounds like a huge security liability. - Trackers like the Apple Tag would definitely work better with this. 
 
- Requires perfect conditions and clear line-of-sight. Seems like a click-bait marketing article. edit: and 10km would be over the horizon so it’d need elevated equipment to compensate for the curvature of the earth. 
- Does it count as Bluetooth if it extends that far? I haven’t looked into the SoC, but that seems misleading at the very least. - The Bluetooth standard uses maximum power as a requirement for classification not range. So if they manage to not exceed the power limit of class 1 it would be valid. 
 
- you would only need a car battery in your back - With a 10m antenna. You don’t want to be anywhere near the end of it either.
