I have joined the Volkswagon club (which means I will fit in with my family again). It actually not a car, it is a van. A Caddy, which means I have lots of space to carry things, am not paying for extra seats I don’t use, but it is not much bigger than my car was so is easy for parking etc. It also gives me a future project to fit out as a micro camper.

My FIL had one of those! Very useful and handy. They could comfortably fit all luggage in when travelling. My FIL could fit his golf related items in there plus mobility device and still leave room for shopping. We borrowed it when moving in.

They have a version with a removable row of seats in the back that would be great for a lot of people too - I think there’s even a 7 seater model, but I haven’t seen one actually for sale here. There are a ton of different configurations - I’ve seen a few turned into refrigerated delivery vans too!

If you’re not too tall it’ll make a great micro camper. If you can fit one of these down one side they make for a quick conversion for a solo camper: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/387469263215. Storage underneath, makes for a bench seat, easy to pull out to either pack down or sleep under the stars.

I sort of have one of those already - I loaned it to my sister, who has had it so long I’ve told her it;s become hers due to adverse possession laws.
