‘The more I see of what you call civilisation, the more highly I think of what you call savagery.’
I suppose the dogs don’t mind the texture.
Nato membership for Ukraine is a no go for Russia, whose approval is actually needed to end the war. Also neither the US or most of European countries keen on having Ukraine in EU, especially when the war is still going on. Zelensky is just fucking with everybody here and insulting everybody’s intelligence. He is not ready to step down, he is holding on for his dear life.
All of them have turned into chickens
Yeah you are going to get “horrible” 100fps lows in AC4 and borderlands 2 whit physx enabled.
How many of the two dozen games affected were already capped engine wise to 60 or 30fps because of console ports? If you can afford 5000-series then you probably also have a processor that can more than enough offset the GPUs workload. AC4 for example came out when gtx 980 was bleeding edge. It’s just what AMD GPU users have been living with for decades, and not even really noticing. Even my three gen old low tier AMD laptop with integrated graphics can eek out 30+ fps in mirrors edge with physX on and all graphics maxed. I’m sure all of these games will be fine.
Oo, it has a demo out already?
Marx and Engels where both reviled by the mainstream liberals during their own time. Only in the late 20th century was Marx made like this kind demsoc grandpa that only stood for co-ops and liberal values who would have hated Lenin and Stalin “who obviously misunderstood him and Engels”. It’s also partly because of things like the new left and frankfurt school, Marx has his name slapped into everything from animal rights to art critique and other things that have nothing to do with class struggle and that has taken the edge off in the eyes of the liberals.
It’s however absolutely right that all the bad communists, the vile dictators and authoritarians are those who stood up to the west and capitalism, fought the porkies, won, didn’t get couped afterward and actually built something resembling real socialism. People like Lenin and Stalin are hated precisely because they succeeded and didn’t get crushed by the forces of reaction. There is also the radlib phenomena where they are allergic to any contradiction in real living world. The further a revolution goes the more contradictions and problems there are to work through. So you can really be pure and represent “real socialism” if you never really tried or got a chance to put anything into practice or died a martyr at the early stages with untested ideas. If you succeed and have to test and develop stuff, fight and compromise you become a dirty creature of “not real socialism”.
That is just not what the article means when it talks about carbon capture
Money spent=/=production or productive capacity or performance.
Everything in the west is just really fucking expensive, because defense industry is a racket meant to make profit not weapons.
Eu doesn’t have the weapons to replace the US, much less do anything more. All action by EU and European Nato is at best a political stunt to make US and Trump to change their minds.
I mean since we are, then aren’t we more likely to be part of a trend than just a singular fluke? Like some people think they are special, but in reality most likely the totality of their attributes are average because that is how averages work.
Hydrogen at least has it’s uses in stuff like planes.
Water is wet, researchers find
Like basic thermodynamics can tell you that carbon capture sucks efficiency wise. It’s more work to pour water on the floor and then mopping it up and putting a back into the bottle, than just not not spilling the water in the first place.
I would think, in the US, antitrust laws would apply.
ARM is brittish
Is this different from Intel and x86 architecture? (Genuinely asking)
yes the ARM architecture is it’s own thing, licensed by ARM.
It can be really bad for the industry if ARM is both a producer of chips and the gatekeeper within the ARM ecosystem. I don’t know if there are laws against this or loopholes through them, but what is going to prevent them from just withholding license or technologies to push competition out?
I mean US sanctions will force companies to use it, if it ever becomes real. Think like Huawei wanting to sell stuff to Russia, but US threatens to kick any bank out of swift that trades with Russia. So then they would have this Brics-$ to circumvent that. That’s the whole point. US is sanctioning so many countries that there is a need for alternative, not that USD/swift is bad system for those using it. USD needs replacing because it has become a Washington’s geopolitical sledgehammer and a chokepoint to free flowing world trade. Even Putin said that only reason they have been reduing dollar usage, because they have been barred from using it, not because they are particularly eager to do it by itself.
Companies would want it because it would a one way to secure their profits and nation’s would want it because it frees them from the unilateral sanction sledgehammer.
“Brics currency” would go around the problems of gold, becausse they have been planning for it to be tied to a “basket of goods” like oil, wheat, gold, etc. It has always been about solving the balance of payments issue among the member states, without using the dollar or gold. You are right that an Euro-like currency would be bad for Brics countries economies because of their development levels’ but so is Euro stifling for most the EU countries, but I digress.
It’s really difficult to even start to build even an Keynes’ Bancor like global reserve currency, much less some “Brics Euro” to be used within the countries (which was never in the cards to begin with btw). However this American sanction obsession is very much creating the need to replace the dollar worldwide. Under Biden one set of countries were sanctioned, and now Trump is sanctioning pretty much everybody else that Biden didn’t sanction. US itself is the main driver of de-dollarization, not Brics. Who the hell even wants to live with a US gun on their temple anyway, even if you are so called “US ally”. Now Canada and Europe are getting slapped punitive tariffs on, because the administration changed, countries therefore can’t have just one main way to do global trade.
It’s our protecting democracy when we remove people that we don’t agree with.
It would probably be the end of the union at that point. Really Orwellian to boot.

No, if Kiev or the EU leaders insists on Ukraine getting into Nato, then Russia will just keep the war going and end Ukraine as a state if they have to. They of course don’t want that burden, but they are very ready and capable of doing that. That is their veto regarding Ukrainian nato membership.
It’s even easier now that US is pulling out. Why would the Russians ever give concessions like that to Ukraine now? Is EU going to sanction Russia even more? Give Ukraine more of the ever more anemic amounts of weapons?
Plus every European country knows that taking Ukraine into Nato while the war is going on is like vote if they want to escalate this thing over Ukraine into a hot war against Russia that will go nuclear. Ukrainians themselves of course want that outcome. For them it would be just more bodies dying with them and for them, since they can’t seem to accept anything else than their vision on total victory. These Zelensky’s idiotic words just confirm that even more. That is also why unless a miracle happens and despite the talk form Ukraine and EU leaders Ukraine is never getting into Nato. That’s just a fact. Ukraine lost, get over it. Than fuck “the orange man” and his team has some sense in this regard.
