Yeah I really need to do more reading. My lack of knowledge on Linux is my main issue I think. Just jumped the gun to Linux like a month ago, played around in elementary for a bit and was like “now is the time to set up my media server”. Prob needed more time, reading, and texting but eh.

I appreciate the advice I’ve been getting here big time!

  • I followed your guide and everything works perfectly now! Thanks so much. I hope you don’t mind if I ask you a follow up question since you seem wise in the ways of wizardry.

I’m hoping to make this old laptop a jellyfin server as well. And this may seem a dumb question but I’d be remiss not to ask. I’m planning to leave this plugged in all the time. I already turned off the sleep/suspend feature. Is it safe to keep the battery in? To remove the battery I’d have to open it up and remove it and I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle.

Again thanks for your previous advice and if you have the time to answer this double thanks

  • I actually donate a lot, bout every two months for whole blood. I do it all the time so afterwards I feel no difference, maybe a sore arm if the phlebotomist wasn’t the best. If you go in with an empty stomach you might feel crappy and if you go in dehydrated they’ll struggle getting the blood… and you’ll feel pretty crappy.

I do it mostly for the civic duty of it all. Better to help when you can imo. Also there is a ton of data about donating blood being good for you. I’ve seen articles on it helping remove micro plastics and PFAS chemicals from the body. So hey, might as well
