Uit angst voor zulke types durf ik in de aanloop naar oud en nieuw amper buiten te komen. Ik hoor de vuurwerkbommen hier (Rotterdam) dagelijks. Gelukkig is het weer voorbij - hopelijk is dit vanaf volgend jaar sowieso geschiedenis, of in elk geval minder erg.

Voor mij komt op 1 Gotta catch 'em all, ook onder anderen in mijn leeftijdsgroep populair. Niet verwonderlijk: geen enkel ander liedje kan me zo sterk terugbrengen naar vroeger: als kleine op de bank naar FoxKids kijken!

I’d like to add that it may also be a good idea to find Dutch media you actually like. Not to say you can’t like childrens’ literature, of course, but I learnt German in part because liked German (classical) music and movies, and it motivated me to want to understand what was actually said. So I started translating German songs into Dutch and watching German movies with Dutch subtitles. I also started following a German YouTuber’s let’s plays of historical games - when I started my German comprehension wasn’t very good, but it quickly improved.

When it comes to suggestions, maybe look around on Spotify or some other music streamer to find something you like.

My favourite Dutch movies are Max Havelaar (1976) and Soldaat van Oranje (1977). Admittedly, I don’t watch many movies.

But, oh well. It’s not like a lingua franca can be decided upon. It just ends up becoming one (due to necessity and the power of its speakers). There’s really no reason any other language would take over from English at the moment.

Nouja, van zat historische figuren zijn er wel geruchten dat ze seks hadden met hetzelfde geslacht. Ik noem maar prins Willem III van Oranje-Nassau en koning van Engeland, en koning Willem II.

Het is natuurlijk nog wel iets anders of die geruchten dan ook waar zijn. Vooral van Willem II was het geloof ik wel echt aannemelijk dat hij biseksueel was.

Maar ik weet niets over premiers. Ik heb nog wel snel even gegoogled en gekeken op Wikipedia, maar zo snel niets gevonden.
