An American man named Scott Harvey “N”, 41 years old, was arrested when he attempted to bring high caliber weapons into Mexico through the border with the United States.

According to a joint press release, the foreigner attempted to bring an arsenal and ammunition into the country in a vehicle in Tijuana, Baja California through the “El Chaparral” international bridge.

As a result of the strengthening of security and surveillance in that structure, while performing random inspections, security elements had contact with the driver of a vehicle with tinted windows that prevented visibility inside the unit, for which reason they asked him to stop his vehicle to perform an inspection.

During the search, the security forces located three long arms, two short arms, 19 magazines, more than 2,000 useful cartridges of different calibers, as well as three telescopic sights for weapons and a telescope, and the driver was immediately detained.

The arrest was achieved as part of the reinforcement of security on the country’s northern border, in which elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Defensa), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), Attorney General’s Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), along with the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) are participating.

The detainee, a U.S. national, was informed of his constitutional rights and was handed over, along with the seized goods, to the corresponding public prosecutor, who will determine his legal status and continue with the relevant investigations.

According to unofficial information, the detainee and the seized goods belong to the “Los Rusos” faction, a member of the “Cartel del Pacífico” criminal organization.
