I agree with the researchers that they should investigate further, but disagree with the author of this article that we should assume they’re dark stars at this point. It strikes me as unlikely.
Totally agree - the spectra of these objects are weird enough to warrant investigation but the media always jumps straight to the most exotic explanation when the boring one (unusual early galaxies) is still on the table and probbly more likely.
