Sad to say but LMGTFY is no longer a sure bet.
It would hurt, not the fact that I was wrong, but the fact that they wanted me to use Google rather than something like DuckDuckGo.

As a duckduckgo user myself, I haven’t noticed any striking differences between the two. Can you explain why it’s better? I know google uses AI responses nowadays, but you can just ignore these, no?

SEO contamination of Google searches isn’t going to age this one well.
“Google” is just the generic term for a web search, kind of like how velcro means all hook-and-loop fasteners and xerox is a (photo)copy
I’d be happy to know of a search engine not contaminated by SEO.
