If so, was it polled somewhere?

Have you browsed Hexbear? This ain’t trolling. It’s very much genuine.

If it is trolling, then it’s just an entire instance posting an inside joke and then pointing and laughing at the people not in-the-know who don’t “get it.”

        It’s not clever.

Yeah, mate. That’s the in-joke I’m referring to. [sarcasm tone indicator, cuz some of y’all need it]

A reasonable person can infer that’s not where my issues stem from.

All this tells me is that Hexbear folks get their jollies from trying to provoke people with weird stretches.

“You don’t like some of our users?? Wow, you’re pro-rascism and ablelist!”

            It’s not cute.

You present needing tone indicators as a negative.

I understand that this is bait and definitely not good-faith, but I’ll bite anyway.

Because I know that a lot of Lemmy users are ND, and, being ND myself, I wanted to emphasize the need for my tone to be understood by everyone.

Didn’t realize it could even be viewed as a “negative” until you said something.

Hey thank you for your response!
It was indeed bait, because I thought you saw being ND as a negative, from the way you phrases your statement. I am glad to hear it was me that misunderstood you.
I’ve just seen a few too many use it as a way to demean others.

Also: the fact that Hexbear users are making a point to go tone-policing after calling anyone who makes even the slightest criticism against them “racist” and “ableist” should tip y’all off that Hexbear is almost purely a troll instance.

Plenty of criticism is handled without pointing out racist language, because that criticism does not contain racist language.
Bigotry is boiled into a large amount of our day-to-day verbage, and sometimes we become blind to it. Adding the suffix -tard to words for example has become common, but it is still tied to hurtful and demeaning language.
Suggesting someone “sucks a dick” is a common insult, but the insult here is the implication that the other person engages in sexual relations with a man, which is presented as a negative. While we do not think of this in the moment, that is still the root of the insult.
Such language is not tolerated on hexbear, and as a result users have gotten very perceptive of it. Could they be nicer at pointing it out? Certainly, at times it’s a fair mistake to make, and at times - such as here - they’re much too quick on the draw. However I think the context should be remembered, which is that Hexbear has had to deal with a wealth of wreckers, and as such a lot of users assume that a person that is hostile, negative and also uses language that could be perceived as bigoted and that language is used in a manner to insult (or what can be perceived as something meant to be an insult) then they end up assuming the worst at times. This is most certainly something that Hexbear users could do better at.
But being frustrated at having it pointed out is silly, just as it is silly to continue using that language after having pointed out it’s problematic aspects.

This stuff is pointed out regardless of a user agreeing or disagreeing with another user - it is in fact unrelated to it.

You know what it’s not cute? Discrimination. In this case, your ableism.

We call out the ableism and racism of some users of this instance. That’s the real reason of your “obnoxious” feeling, regarding the Hexbear users. Our zero tolerance to hate.

              Scrath a liberal, and a fascist/racist bleeds.

I think it’s authoritarian when libs ignore their government couping and bombing other countries

I remember during the attempted coup in Venezuela even John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and AOC supported it
