Just curious; how often do cops ram shit in Europe, Canada and Australia?
That looks a lot like attempted vehicular assault.
It wasn’t attempted, it was vehicular assault and reckless driving. Not sure about the definition in AZ though. It was also excessive force when he used the vehicle to ram the trailer and when they intentionally pressed her against the hot tarmac to cause pain or injury.
They will claim qualified immunity, however, in my opinion, a claim of qualified immunity is an affirmative defense in a civil case. Meaning that the individual officer is admitting that they did something, but cannot be held personally liable for it.

They did, but also they didn’t. They made it a valid claim to self defense, which this was not.
This is in NV, but what I don’t know is what jurisdiction applies. Involved might be federal, state, or county agents.
The Ranger truck might suggest that it was federal, but the highway would have been state managed.Edit: Read elsewhere that it was a Tribal Ranger truck, so yet another jurisdiction. Excessive response and the conduct is under review.
That’s tricky, I don’t know anything about tribal law, but I assume NV state law would apply as to how vehicular assault is defined.
It’s pretty straightforward: don’t ram non-violent people with your car. People are messed up for suggesting otherwise.
As soon as the cop turned around and went for the second round while on the bull horn warning they were about to run people over I would have unloaded into the drivers windshield. That motherfucker was a real and present threat to the safety of bystanders. Fuck that motherfucking piece of inbred shit.
I’m not saying we should just shoot cops
But I ain’t exactly saying we shouldn’t
I’m sure that would have de-escalated the situation
Just a couple days ago police shot and killed a pregnant shoplifter for driving out of a parking spot when the cop stepped in front of the vehicle. Funny how they felt justified in murdering her in that case and here they feel justified in murdering people for standing in the road with a sign.
Sadly incidents like these are becoming way too common. I’m confident that people were shot today by police under the same premise. We just don’t hear about every story. The reason this story gained so much traction is because of the person being pregnant. Otherwise most would have never known it happened.
It’s all because they’re not accountable for their actions. That needs to change one way or another.
I have a cousin who is a cop. He has been a cop for 5 years. He has shot the driver of the car in the exact same way on two separate occasions. One lived and charges were dropped, the other died. There are news stories about the incidents online but I won’t share them because it would dox me. He never faced any consequences, not even time off while investigations took place. That’s not the only people he has shot while wearing a badge. These are just the relevant incidents. He is still a cop.
Alleged shoplifter. Alleged by the cops who murdered her.

BTW : I disagree with how the protesters/activists went about their business. But the cop ramming through the blockade like that was even more crazy / cringe. Glad nobody got ran over or dragged around.
What was wrong with how they went about their business? They largely stayed polite and calm despite the abuse and violence directed at them. And I’ve never seen someone so obviously not resisting arrest as the lady who got manhandled.
I am on Your side , Her side, My side. What’s happened has happened and it ALWAYS seems to be tragedy.
Happens around 10:20
So, mission accomplished? These protests are to get media attention, police made that happen. If police would have cleaned them up a little nicer, you’d never have heard of this.
The activists wanted attention and they were going to block the road until they got the maximum attention that was possible. This is that maximum. I do believe that the cops were reckless. They should have just walked up, cuffed them, pack them up, and just drive away.
like, ethically. they should have quit and joined the blockade.
The effectiveness of being a public nuisance is arguable, if your goal is to actually get more people to share your opinion.
Climate activists have been trying to fix things through peaceful, unobtrusive protests for decades now. It’s achieved sweet fuck all and we’re almost out of time.
There are three forms of protest. Some are meant to evangelize. Some are meant to enact direct consequences. And some are meant to demonstrate the commitment of supporters.
The history books love to spotlight evangelism, but an effective protest movement needs all three. One is the carrot (MLK), one is the stick (Malcolm X), and one is an ultimatum – an implicit show of force displaying how many people will wield that stick if the audience doesn’t pay attention to the carrot (March on Washington).
While I question the effectiveness of making a traffic jam for people heading to Burning Man, the next time you see a climate protest, I want to encourage you to ask yourself what kind of protest it is, and who is its intended audience.
the goal is long past convincing anyone to agree that climate change is happening, it is, you have to exert pressure to get political change and that won’t happen without being a “nuisance”.
Well, that is an argument for it.

I am not at all surprised that this kind of misconduct happens in US. But I am just wondering if stuff like this happens in Europe, Canada and Australia ever?
Yes there is. It is called the last generation (still able to stop the total collapse or the earth)

Sorry. I meant do cops ever ram into stuff; putting people in danger like that ranger did?
Oh you mean “attempting murder with qualified immunity?”
^ Yes, that’s what I meant.
Are cops brazen like that in other western countries ? Or is that just our cops that have the “I don’t give a fuck” mentality?
Corrupt law enforcement is sadly not a unique concept.
American Cops are just very loud & proud about it.
The French police seem to be almost as bad as the American ones, from what I see on the news here and there.
The gendarms are a low branch of the military, they are mostly alright, but like all authority organisations, some bad apples spoil the rest.
These types of protest happen in my country quite often and the worst I have heard the cops do is carry them away in purposefully painful ways or give full cavity searches after arresting.
Cops have figured out that you can use a rear wrist lock to sprain someone’s wrist without causing any detectible injury. This causes the person to “pull away” and cry out in sudden pain so the cops can claim the person was resisting. That’s why so many cops go to Krav Magna classes. You can also see the cops in this video pushing her into the hot road to basically do the same thing.
It mostly only happens when the protestors are unarmed. If even a single person at that protest open carried a rifle in a legal fashion (no brandishing), the cops would walk eggshells.
Or they just open fire…
No, at least not in Germany. We leave that to angry civilians in their cars and trucks. We had a couple of instances, but nothing to serious fortunately.
The RCMP has a troubled past.
Well what were they supposed to do? Wait for them to pack up and leave? People have places to go, and emergency vehicles might need to use the road.
The best way to clear a blocked road is to drive a police car into the obstruction?
Here it usually involves workers dismantling and taking stuff away.
Are you arguing in favor of institutional vehicular manslaughter
Arrest the people, like you know, the normal way. Go there, handcuff them, carry them away, dismantle the barriere. No shooting, no violence. Happens here in europe all the time.
they shouldn’t have arrested them either, that is also violence.
Depends on law. For example in my country they can’t block the whole road. If they do, they can be arrested.
Advocating for violence is not nice. This is your warning.

Will BluJay also be getting a warning?
As best as I can tell he’s advocating for self defense against an individual who was intent on causing violence to peaceful protestors. There’s a distinct difference between defending yourself against someone intent on causing violence and harm to innocent individuals and advocating for violence against innocent individuals. In addition, we very clearly state in our documents that it is okay and good and cool and correct to be intolerant of the intolerant.
Oh shit they’re watching you
Yes, they are supposed to wait for them to leave. Also peaceful protests will usually allow emergency vehicles to go through.
In your expert opinion, which boots are the tastiest?
So I understand some of the comments here now, it’s because you guys haven’t seen the whole video: https://youtu.be/e8fDM60MS84?si=18kK8J--5nWTqeFG
I posted it previously; but you’re right 100% ! 💕 😘
