Nintendo firing up Legal for the Metroid Fusion riff as we speak.
But seriously though: That’s a slugcat featured on the right, and I very highly recommend anyone that likes metroidvanias or platform games of any kind to get Rain World today.
I’m not kidding, it’s awesome. Go! Buy it.
Just picked up the bundle with Rain World and Niche. Thanks for the rec!
Let us know what you think of it. It’s definitely a different type of game.
I don’t think it’s on this page but if you want a cool 3d platformer metroidvania check out Pseudoregalia. I recently beat it and it’s one of my favorite games in recent memory.
I got it a few months ago but haven’t given it a shot yet. I’ve always been a little wary of 3D Metroidvanias because I feel like I’ll get way too lost. Might give it a play on the Steam Deck next week, though.
I would absolutely wait if that’s the case. I spent two hours running in circles to find one-way forward. I’ve been told a map is being introduced in the future
Played it earlier this week and there was a map. Was still a bit confusing at times but I figured it out. Could be better but absolutely worth it imo. Especially if you’re a Mario 64 and metroidvania fan.
Thanks for clarifying. I played it last year

What are the games closest to Metroid without being Metroid I can get? I’ve already played axiom verge
Think I’m going to get Grime, it’s been on my wishlist for a while.

Anyone able to recommend some of these? I don’t recognise very many of them
I played through Blasphemous for the first time just a few months ago-- really liked the dark quasi-christo mystic grotesque aesthetic. Fun boss fights, lots of upgrades, decent exploration, etc
Should’ve moved piggy guy (sorry, I’m not up on my indie games) next to slugcat and added an Alucard-ish silhouette inside the doorway. Needs 'vania representation!
