X is becoming a ‘ghost town’ of bots as AI-generated spam content floods the internet — A sign of the scale is the thriving industry in bot-making::The internet is filling up with machine-generated “zombie content” designed to game algorithms and scam humans. Experts call it the “great AI flood”.
Yeah I still use reddit (for now) for the niche subs that are more impactful to me and don’t have as much of a community built here yet, but I avoid the big subs like the plague at this point.
Not only is there very little original content, but even posts on recent events don’t seem to have real dialogue. Like you said, even the top comments are recycled. I’ll notice a lot of the same comments verbatim on a topic in multiple subreddits, or on related posts in the same sub.
If you do engage, because there often isn’t a real person behind it, it doesn’t pan out with organic dialogue like you see here.
So much content is either karma farming or being pushed with another goal in mind/propaganda. It’s tiresome and feels like going to a mall that used to be fun, but now half the shops are closed and the remaining shops are devoid of people and sell weird or overpriced junk no one wants.
