    Lemmy and the fediverse is the opposite of privacy. Everything you do (as in: post, comment, like, follow, subscribe, block) is being recorded and shared with everyone. There is no need to sell data, because it is already public domain.

    In this way Lemmy is waaay worse for the users privacy than Reddit.

      I would argue it is better this way. Why? well there are no ways to personally identify people on lemmy as its still mostly anonymous. You decide how personal you want to get. Also gets rid of the buying and selling altogether which means no money is made. Well atleast I would assume so.

      Its like selling the data of 4chan users, or forum posters. All publically available yet who would actually bother other than youtubers reading them for stories.
