Considering what imperialists did to Iran, yes. Even libs should do so. Much of it’s lack of progress in e.g. gender equality is a direct consequence of imperialist meddling.
Iranians themselves don’t necessarily like the government or military service but the alternative is utter capitulation to the US, and they’ve been there before, at least twice, the first time to the British/French.
The US could end almost all of Iran’s problems today simply by getting the fuck out of West Asia and leaving it to develop on its own. Same story as everywhere else.
Ofc, eventhough they do have issues with gay and female rights. They still are still very anti imperialist. Nobody is going to adapt well to something being shoved down their throat even if it’s good, specially if it’s your mortal enemy.
I have a theory, the anti gayness and everything will slowly fade away ones they’re not being bombarded by the new all gay f16 platoon(gaywashing).
I’m also going to have to look up the article, but female oppression was something introduced by the colonial powers, because females were regarded as crap since the days of old in the western countries but in islamic were granted many rights, like control of family finance and the right to a divorce. Guess what western Christian countries thought of that?
Please @ me when u find the article I’m very interested
The thing about the woman having the right to divorce and also annul the marriage if her husband wouldn’t divorce her, as well as being financially independent is true. For example in the US women didn’t gain the freedom to get a credit card without their husband’s permission until the 1970s, whereas women always had this right in Islam and even before it, Muhammad was employed by his rich merchant wife. Even further before Arab women were financially independent.
After reading the Qu’ran, you realize how much more progressive it is than the new or old testaments when it comes to women’s rights / empowerment.
Thanks comrade <3
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
I’ve been looking but my search has ended up fruitless. I will continue my search tomorrow comrade.
No worries. I appreciate the effort comrade.
Yes, and it is good that you specified “in the fight against imperialism in West Asia” (i would also add against neocolonialism). This is what critical support means. You support specific actions or policies, not the whole thing itself. But what is even more important is what we should oppose when it comes to Iran and that is any kind of imperialist war on Iran, imperialist meddling in Iran, unilateral coercive measures (“sanctions”), or color revolution attempts.
Mao and the founders of SWCC are really good on this: they understand these contradictions as tiers: IE primary contradictions, secondary contradictions, and more further down. By prioritizing / ranking contradictions, we can better outline our goals and strategy.
The primary contradiction in the world today is imperialism, or the exploitation / theft of value from poor countries to feed the rich ones. The largest source of surplus value is the theft of value from super-exploited proles in global south, making products for imperial-core consumers while being paid wages from the 1800s. They are coerced into doing this by the financial and military power of the US and Europe.
Whatever secondary / tertiary contradictions may exist in countries that don’t openly espouse socialist values, Iran, Russia, and many others are doing their best to attack the primary contradiction, imperialism, and deserve our support.
Well said. I could not agree more.
Yes. Frankly I wouldn’t even consider anyone who doesn’t give them (critical) support in the context of resisting western encroachment, supporting Palestine against genocide and other Arab nations against further exploitation, etc… a “Marxist-Leninist”- to me they’d be an ultra, just another useful tool for the imperialists, and not someone I’d ever consider a comrade.
Yes, Iran is playing a pivotal role breaking the back of the empire in West Asia.
Yes, the defeat of imperialism anywhere is a defeat for it everywhere.
Yes.
Yes. The historic and material conditions have placed Iran in the position of acting as a progressive force regardless of their current conservative or reactionary state of affairs.
This can of course change and reverse, but that is currently a hypothetical future and not a current concrete reality
Generally we don’t support them but when the 5% chance the dice rolls on a 20 for a 20 sided dice we have to support them. That’s critical support.
What does support mean? Donating to the Islamic Republic of Iran? Performing volunteer work for it? Counterpropaganda? Cheerleading? Are we talking about Iranians in general or just the government? Or are we talking about support that’s more indirect, like inhibiting the Western arms industry and protesting the abuse of our tax dollars?
Yes.
Every issue Westerners criticize Iran for is born of, or upheld by, imperialism.
The fact that the utter hypocrisy of the US criticizing Iran for human rights when Saudi Arabia is an ally
