I will post these abominations in there I promise :)
Aww yiss brikfist
My favourite go to meal when I go out to a cafe.
Looks delish.
Eggs benedict?
You know it! Sans spinach because I’m not Popeye.
I always come for an Eggs Benny at The Naked Tree cafe when I’m in Yarrawonga.
Oooooo. I’ll take the spinach. Love the stuff.
Got home at 4.30. So tired. Taught how to mix my meds better, doc made a precise diagnosis ( minor pinch of L3 ) , was told I’ll get better in 3 weeks, was referred to a specialist back pain program by the physio there, I am surprisingly limber for my age ( I do heaps of physio at home already) blood pressure etc is awesome. They wanted me to stay overnight but I wanted to be home.
I learnt a new phrase. Furniture walking.
Nerve pain is the worst, touch wood this helps
It might be worth having a squiz at the dermatome map and myotome list of movements and see if any of the lumbar stuff correlates to your experiecne. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dermatome_(anatomy)
It’s good you have some more info, and I hope it all helps you feel better soon
As in using furniture as a walking aid? I’m L4,L5,S1. Really hope the three weeks proves true for you!
L5 S1 gang represent 😎 And yes, not being able to walk independently without the support of furniture and walls etc.
They wouldn’t let me go home unless I could walk down a corridor or two, I was so wanting to grab onto everything for support and I couldn’t walk upright.
My last episode was 12 months ago. I would walk laps around the kitchen island holding on every morning until my voltaren kicked in. I absolutely understand, and hope your recovery is continuing in the right direction.
When I was really bad the worst bits were trying to roll over, and putting socks on. So much sympathy!
My last episode was last summer. I lived in my thongs and was ever grateful for a wrought iron bed head to grab onto to roll over!
I’ve been lucky to heal well in the past. :)
Oowww. That’s got to be painful.
Doesn’t take much to pinch a nerve either but super painful and only gets worse over time.
Hope the meds are able to take the edge off and that you get better soon.
@Seagoon_ much sympathy, I’m c6-c7 and now it looks like c4-c5, as MRI 4 months ago when the c6-c7 herniated showed a c4-c5 which became symptomatic just as the c6-7 settled down. It’s scary to contemplate that this might continue regularly the rest of my life, it’s fucking agonising. Still haven’t worked out ideal pain meds. Opiods do nothing.
time for better meds so it’s off to hospital
I hope you get something stronger and to help you sleep.🤞
Good luck, I hope they can offer you some relief! By the way, if the hospital wait is long, check if there is a Priority Care clinic near you. There are a number of them around Melbourne now, much shorter wait times.
Good luck! Hope it works out for the best ❤️
Yikes, Best wishes!
Lol I posted this is the wrong thread, here’s the garnet I bought from my local crystal shop, Sacred Gems.
I don’t think rocks and minerals have energy in the way most of those shops purport, however I do love shiny, cool looking rocks!
the garnet
I just had a realisation. This easel may be intended mostly for painting, where you are holding a brush in a ‘writing’ position, daubing directly in small movements with your horizontal hand targeted at small areas, which wouldn’t be limited by that ledge the way vertically held charcoal pencils or sweeping pencil arcs would be.
Also more than that - that ledge/rest looks designed to hold the thickness of a canvas. The edges of which would be flush with each other or less excess would be protruding, and so you would not catch your hand on it (or as much).
Boom. I knew I was missing something obvious.
I’ve spent most of the day feeling lethargic and tired and blah on the couch slowly getting through a book (The Ocean at the End of the Lane). Did not do chilli paste although I got as far as taking the ice cube tray out of the fridge. Too lazy to look at anything in the kitchen after making an omelette with gem squash in it.
Having a go at watching Station Eleven. I feel like any stories about future pandemics will be written very differently (I am aware this was written for tv and filmed in 2020-2021 even if the book was written a decade ago…) If the characters don’t make some reference to the panini, the authors’ writing would have to be informed by it. They’d know how information and panic really spreads.
I would like more references to the panini!
I lived through SARS somewhat full on a teenager overseas - schools closed, primitive e-learning and all, empty-ish streets, pretty bloody scary news - and it always annoyed me that nobody really wrote that experience into fiction as much after that. Fair enough, I guess most people never really went through it like with covid.
I actually began writing something about a plague and quarantine attempts based on a dream I had a year or two before covid. I uh… think it’s best I don’t write anymore
There’s a lot of literature on the topic already. Albert Camus’ The Plague, Stephen King’s The Stand to name just two. Plus a lot of sci-fi. Might could be that the writing community is still processing and still looking for a new angle to write to on the topic.
-wave in SARS 1 kid-
We didn’t have much e-learning. The school tried but people barely had broadband so it didn’t really work. Pretty much just waited till it was over. That’s why I thought this one would be over in a few months too. Come SARS 2 as soon as the rumours hit masks were sold out everywhere.
Morning everyone. Happy Sunday
VapoRub now comes in an applicator thingy so you don’t have to get it all over your hands and it is truly brilliant.
People with office jobs who didn’t want an office job, how did you get to where you are? I am an ADHDer (and yes I know I can’t use it as an excuse) who wants to get into teaching but I’m being discouraged by basically everyone and I also want to consider my options. But I don’t see myself sitting at a desk for ages at a time.
Also, second question incoming. I saw some people on the beach today hitting a ball back and forth with bats that looked like cricket bats but the top of the bat was shaped like a lacrosse one. So imagine a cricket bat with a lacrosse shaped head. Does anyone know what this kind of bat is? Just a special cricket bat?
Find some kids to tutor online for an hour for free. You’ll soon find out if you really want to teach.
I’m already tutoring whilst working in retail and am sacrificing doing bigger retail shifts on the days that I tutor. I also volunteered on an online educational forum for about five years helping kids with questions relating to VCE and science.
That’s really good. I only suggested it because my daughter found someone online to help her through VCE maths methods this year. I didn’t know it was a thing until she told me.
You’re a smart cookie. You will find what you’re looking for. I know it!

Teaching is a calling. For the amount of work you do, and the amount of shit you have to deal with, it doesn’t pay well. Good teachers do it because it’s honestly what they want to do. Don’t pick teaching if you are unsure what you want to do.
That said, you can do a world of good in hundreds of kids’ lives if you can get past the challenges of ADHD and teach. You can serve as a wonderful example for kids on the spectrum, and help them as they try to navigate a world that isn’t designed with them in mind. You can advocate for these kids and really help their parents understand how to relate to them.
I think that’s called “Jai Alai” in America, pelota elsewhere. Sort of a hand held bat with a basketlike scoop arrangement on the top. Like a woomera but for a ball. Very fast and quite dangerous game due to the sheer speed of the ball.

I had such big plans for today. Unfortunately my leg workout from the day before has left me unable to walk.
Ah well, music and video games it is then 🥳
Awake at 4:30 am for some reason. Guess it’s an early morning for meee
Does anyone want to make the new thread after midnight? If not I’ll do it and give @[email protected] a rest.
Watching the WWE Royal Rumble with Elder, he loves the spectacle of the wrestling and the entertainment. Must say I’m kinda enjoying it myself. Doing exercises on the fitball at the same time because I’ve turned into a fat bastard over the holidays and it’s time for me to get back into shape. I’ve put on about 8kg since my birthday last year, but the fun’s over and it’s time to get a bit more active. I think this year I’ll focus less on trying to do my X minutes of exercise per day, and instead try to focus on finding activity that’s enjoyable for me and the family. Elder needs more exercise than he’s getting and should be more active for a child his age. Mr P doesn’t exercise much and doesn’t walk anywhere. Miniest is a freak who is double jointed and always wriggling about, so there’s one I don’t have to worry about so much!
Nice walk around the golf course today. played like shit but it’s still a win weather wise.
The main thing I was thinking about walking around was the sunset beach dins and have concluded it will be a mcmuffin knockoff with egg, bacon, cheese, cheese kransky (took me way too long find at woolies yesterday), jalapeno, chilli jam, tomato sauce and mayo.
Beach dins until the world ends!
Which is naturally today’s rave choon:

Also saw a bit of the cadel evans roadbike GOR race. Damn they move impressively quickly. Seems a bit pointless being a spectator when it takes a few seconds until they’re out of sight.
