I’ve seen a lot of posts like this across multiple instances. Now, obviously it’s up to individual owners/mods/communities. But, do we just defederate from everything we don’t agree with? Sounds kinda like when mods would ban people for interacting with another subreddit.

You can block them and move on, without banning all discourse.

Not trying to defend them, cause I have many tirades against Putin sympathizers, but, defederating as a first impulse feels wrong imo. That should be left for security issues (see lemmy.world) or things like corporate entities (meta).

I had a feeling that was the case and I have started doing some research and damn I temporarily left .world because they might not defederate with meta but found an instance that allows tankies. https://archive.is/CwFZC I will not support any instance that is run by Nazis or Tankies. This will be my final post. Slava Ukraini!

I don’t think anyone should be allowed to use the word “tankie” without pre-defining it. That said, you should also be informed that lemmygrad isn’t pro-Putin but anti-NATO and especially anti-American imperialism. This means Russia is supported critically (as in you should be critical of it in your support of it. And in Russia’s case extremely critical because it’s a capitalist state with awful human rights laws) in this war. Of course opinions differ.

You should also not be surprised that lemmy.ml is filled with socialists, though the volume’s a bit diluted since Reddit’s API changes and the flood of new users. It’s also run by socialists. You should not take that to mean you’re not welcome here, either. On the contrary, anyone is so long as everyone follows the code of conduct which contains the obvious things you would expect: no slurs, don’t harass, don’t spam, etc.

Understandable by tankie I mean those who support Putler and Winnie the Pooh. though there are many cases of users from lemmygrad defending putin. Ironically one of the rules there says no homophobia yet people will defend putler the guy that literally weaponized homophobia.

“Now this may not be a popular opinion but I like to compare this to the real world situations.”

It looks like the downvote brigade has found this post. Yesterday this post and the comments were in the positives now all comments criticizing Lemmygrad are in the negatives.

I think you have worthwhile stuff in that comment, but it’s not very coherent.
