I have now seen two episodes of #StrangePlanet, based on @nathanwpyle 's comics.
I am… Confused. There is a lot of different feelings throughout the whole thing. I have no idea if what I saw was amazing or not. I am just confused.
Mis-naming some words for comedic effect is funny in small doses when it exposes something we might not normally consider.
alcohol -> mild-poison
But when it is just constant word replacement with no additional reason.
waffles -> criss-cross floppers
Ugh kill me. Watched one, that was more than enough.
i was just upset by them calling the waffle itself criss-cross floppers. isn’t that the name of the waffle machine? they should have been called criss-cross flops or something…
free criss-cross flops for all in criss-cross flopper day! loud hand slaps for all!
Yeah. That’s my issue, I love the comics but I bailed out before finishing the first episode because it was just too much. I was excited, but it’s just not for me in the end.
I’ve been a fan of Strange Planet for a long while but yeah the thing is it’s great in small doses, it works perfectly as a comic. But long-form I just think the magic is lost.
I am glad Nathan is getting his, for sure. But I just think it’s a case of two very different mediums not meshing well.
I watched the first episode last night and it seems like his comics in cartoon format which is interesting.
I’ll have to watch a couple more before rendering judgement
@slazer2au I’m really enjoying the optimism. The world’s sorely lacking for that. But there are some moments… They’re not bad. Just leave this grizzled idiot a little unsure of everything.
I’ve watched 4 episodes, it sticks nicely to the theme and format of the original 4 panel cartoon. Me and my teen are thoroughly enjoying it, my wife on the other hand spends most of the episodes just looking confused.
The sequence of moved pictures amused me and increased my happiness. Will it fall down?
Does anyone have a guess on the translation of “Caution Now” (the restaurant)?
I’m enjoying the show a fair amount
