I couldn’t disable the app nor block its network access :)
Too bad I can’t replace this phone anytime soon (Vivo Y15a).
Must be checking if you copied a phone number, but still creepy.
I think you’re right. It had a prompt to paste the copied number after entering the phone app. Still, I’m never going to trust this phone ever lol
Looks like a constant reminder of how unsecure the clipboard is. It should really be handled by the OS and treated as input that gets entered if the paste command is used (or part of the keyboard app on phones, I suppose), instead of shared memory that any app can quietly examine and/or modify.
Is there a SoftwareGore community here on lemmy?
Nice
I think it’s time to call management
They’re the ones holding the clipboards
As others mentioned, it seems like the clipboard monitor for phone numbers has crashed. I can’t speak to Vivo as a brand but usually this is not nefarious just a QoL feature to allow pasting into a dialer or dial directly from clipboard pop-up when it is copied.
Good luck with your struggles.
Does a reboot fix the issue? Seems like it’s recognizing something as a phone number which isn’t a phone number. A reboot might reset whatever daemon is causing the issue.
Maybe root the phone and remove bloat?
I don’t think rooting is really the right answer. Custom ROMs maybe but not rooting
