Can someone explain what this means?
It seems to be a screenshot of notification bar of OP’s Android phone (usually top of the phone next to time). Since this is Degoogle community, OP’s phone is probably not popular enough for a community to build custom ROM for it, therefore OP settled with using privacy oriented messaging apps like Telegram and Signal, whose notifications shown in the screenshot.
I still get notifications with Signal and Telegram FOSS though despite running GrapheneOS
That works because GrapheneOS has its own push service. Since I’m forced to use a stock Android, push notifications are done through Google Play Services, which I’ve deactivated and FOSS apps can’t use anyway.
Appreciate the context. I almost deleted this as it felt pretty low value, or a meme. It wasn’t clear what the point of it was. In future, please provide a bit more context.
Yea Telegram FOSS always shows a notification pinned at the top, but Signal never has had to do something like that for me, I just let it run in the background and notifications work flawlessly
For me incoming messages only activated the screen’s backlight without making a sound until I pinned the highest priority notification to the top.
Maybe because I’m using the Signal Foss fork.
Third app that needs this is Threema.
