If I’m not mistaken, when male lions reach adulthood they leave the pride and live on their own, while the female lions take care of the hunting and provide for the rest of the group.
They leave their pride of origin, to avoid mating with their moms and sisters, but they find other newly matured males and live in a bachelor group that will be looking for a new pride to take over, to protect and mate with the ladies.
