Two protesters have been blinded by so-called “less-lethal” munitions deployed by federal officers during an anti-ICE protest last week in Santa Ana, California, according to reports.
The blindings come amid rising scrutiny of federal authorities’ use-of-force policies, after the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer set off nationwide protests.
If they’re going to treat you like a violent mob regardless you should consider being a violent mob 🤷♂️
DHS spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin, has described the protesters as a “a mob”, accusing them of throwing rocks, bottles and fireworks at federal officers.
It’s disturbing but unsurprising to see authorities using the same excuses used to justify violence against unarmed Palestinians to describe brutality against unarmed Americans.
Also, it’s fascinating how the editorial standards require the writer to frame the increasing practice of immigration authorities confronting protesters (despite it not being part of their job or training) as perplexing rather than obviously just something they want to do for the thrill of brutalizing their adversaries.

If this continues on its current course, I find it hard to see outcomes that dont have greater violence towards citizens. However, it’s important to not give up or give in. If US citizens give up, they give up their rights and freedoms.
