Well, great… kkk was founded by the southern democrats historically….
I love when people like to treat this like a “got ya” comment. Democrats IN NAME founded the KKK. Democrats of that time are more aligned with Republicans of today, and vice-versa. The KKK was founded in 1865.. The Democratic Party was founded in 1828 while the Republican Party dates back to 1854. By the 1980’s, the party swap was all but complete.
Isn’t it true for the US Democratic Party of today? I mean they surely don’t have much democracy within their party and they are definitely not “left” in general.
It’s not comparable at all. Democrats were literally the party of slavery. Then Roosevelt came along with The New Deal, pushing them to the left. Then the civil rights movement began, and the “Dixiecrats” (racist southern Democrats) had enough and left the party over it.
Racist, anti-integrationist Dixiecrats like Strom Thurmond remained hardcore Republicans until the day they died.
The “Democrats” that created the KKK are the basis for the modern Republican party.

Not meant to be a gotcha, just what happened historically….
Kind of relevant to today in many ways… the Dems will most definitely switch sides instead of passing any kind of progressive legislation…
We have a uni-party
