I know it’s better in theory than Reddit but maaaaan it’s so lonely here sometimes! So many communities are just a ghost town. It’s so bad that I (normally a lurker) am motivated enough to get out of my cave and post. We need more active text only post subs cause I’m just soo sick of news links :/ we also need more active friend making subs fr.

If anybody is out there, hi 👋. We probably have very different life experiences, but that doesn’t mean we can’t chat lol

What I like the most: single player 2d games with unique combat gameplay and an exploration, action rpg focus, and secret content.

But really tbh I play mostly the same old games I played as a kid. It’s like my comfort zone is fossilized lol. Lots of stuff on gba, ds, psx emulators because back then my computer was a potato. Occasionally some 3d games.

    • Megaman battle network
    • Metroid fusion
    • Castlevania symphony of the night
    • Legend of Zelda minish cap
    • Final fantasy tactics
    • Phoenix Wright series
    • Megaman x8
    • GTA SA
    • Skyrim
    • Batman Arkham asylum
    • Street Fighter 6
    • Hollow knight & silksong

I don’t play C&C generals zero hour but I watch the competitive scene.

Btw: if you like greek mythology have you played Hades?

You absolutely must be a big Zelda fan then, no? I love that series. My next game will be Twilight Princess I think. I have the master sword as well! Just need to hang it up somewhere.

Ever heard of RetroArch? Kind of a 1 stop shop for all emulation, other than the newer gens unfortunately

I also love Silksong, haven’t brought myself to finish it yet though. I’ve played Hades 1, not 2 yet though. It’s on my very long list, along with Witcher 3, Control, Batman series, various Zelda games. One day I might even finish them 😅

Actually I only played minish cap fully. I tried link to the past on GBA emulator and a link between worlds on 3ds emulator but found both had some quality of life problems. I also tried ocarina of time on n64 emulator but I didn’t like it that much. Heresy I know :P. But that was a long time ago and I only played a little. Maybe I didn’t give it a fair shot. I never played any other zelda, mostly because I like 2d zeldas and the new ones are harder to emulate without problems. Had this weird bug with a link between worlds where link would go to the right. It’s like stick drift on keyboard somehow.

I should definitely play breath of the wild someday because my brother says it’s amazing. He played it on emulator too, managed to get it running. But first I gotta play ocarina. He also played Hades and told me to play that. I don’t like roguelikes though so I’m hesitant.

Man my list of “should play” is endless lol. Like I said, fossilized comfort zone. There’s probably so many things you’d be like “Wait you’ve NEVER played x?” It’s even worse for movies or shows. I’m that guy who never watched anything.

No I never heard of RetroArch. I get my roms from shady sites so good to know.

Hey what else do you like to do in your free time :D?

It might be worth trying the HD remaster of OOT with a 3DS emulator? It takes some button mapping but I got a pretty smooth setup to switch between the 2 screens on Retroarch. ALTTP is absolutely legendary though, would recommend trying that again, if you prefer 2d games

Here’s my source for ROMs: https://r-roms.github.io/

Some other stuff I like to do are: archery, kayaking, hiking, and I also like to try my hand at baking sometimes too

That’s a great idea. Thanks for the links.

I’ve always wanted to do archery. I think one time when I was a kid in school they let us shoot at a festival. That was fun. Otherwise you’re clearly way more extroverted.

Ok I’m running outta topics so here’s a random question: what’s the most obscure animal you know living or extinct?

Me I would say Hallucigenia. The extinct spiky stick most closely related to velvet worms. Apparently there was a scientific debate over which side is the face and which is the butt lol

I try to be, I used to be very very introverted, and now I seem to be trying to make up for that 😅

As for obscure animals, I can only really think of 2: the star nosed mole, and the Amazon River Dolphin, that they kinda only just rediscovered, after having not seen them for decades. Both very cool, but unfortunately I am more of a fan of megafauna like elephants and moose, which aren much less obscure for obvious reasons. I am just very impressed with any animal that can essentially fight a car without much effort.

What is your most obscure interest that you have, would you say? For me I would go with the historical time period of the Spring of Nations. One of my favourite points of history, mostly because of how much of an effect it would go on to have on our political systems to this day

Well tell me about it. What is this spring of nations? Why would it have a big effect on our political systems? Oh and what do you think is the biggest potential butterfly effect there? Like small change that would change everything.

I guess I would say the competitive scene of C&C generals zero hour is pretty obscure and I’ve been following that since 2020. Although it’s growing. It’s a game from 2004 so pretty wild that we still have $25k tournaments (all from community donors) that get a few thousand live viewers today.

If I went more obscure I guess there’s a few 90s underground rappers I listen to. Oh and there’s this ARG I found on Reddit which is a YouTube channel with very few subscribers about a kidnapped girl. At least I hope it’s an arg and not real haha.
