I was watching something for work and then this was suggested to me.
Obviously I haven’t watched it.
Obviously Rees Mogg is a scumbag doing this for the worst possible reasons, but I was under the impression that basically no-one likes the way the licence fee works currently? The reason it hasn’t changed seems to be more because people can’t agree on an alternative rather than because anyone actually supports it as a funding model.
I think that’s a fair assessment.
Why would this destroy the BBC?
If people don’t pay their license fee then the BBC doesn’t have money. They are funded by citizens.
Nope. They’re funded by parliament. They see the revenue from TV licenses then decide the budget to give the BBC.
So you know why it’ll defund the BBC then.
Maybe if parliament notices some major change the process will change too. Patterns dont hold for all possible scenarios.
Parliament has nothing to do with BBC funding.
