I can’t help but notice that some progressive-leaning channels (like David Pakman, Brian Tyler Cohen and MeidasTouch) have titles like “Trump gets DEVASTATING NEWS that he DREADS”, something like that. That made me think of something:
All both parties do is grift - the Republicans grift by having progressive YouTubers say extreme hardline conservative stuff just to get views and money while the Democrats give their videos clickbaity titles just to get views and money as well as give dark money to these YouTubers.
We need a vanguard Socialist Party that DOESN’T grift, but it’s gonna require a populist platform that focuses on class consciousness…

Thats just kind of mandatory to be successful in that specific corner of the media. I agree it sucks and I hate that shit to, eventually I just stop watch/reading outlets that do this. But you can’t argue that it gets clicks/views.

Well that changes the matter. I hadn’t noticed anything to that effect in what I watched (i.e. his videos from the past months). What’s unfortunate is that he is unusually effective in appealing to a certain kind of people who could otherwise easily be lost to right-wing propaganda. Can you or anyone suggest alternatives who are good at convincing this kind of audience?

I didn’t recommend TrueAnon despite being somewhat left because having Brace spew ableism and more as a bit definitely won’t be interpreted as “a bit” by some g*mers, and you’ve basically recommended Cum Town, which I admittedly haven’t listened to and am not particularly inclined to start.
It’ll definitely resonate with edge lords, I’m sure.
I’ve never listened to Trueanon but was a fan of Cumtown. There is definitely a layer of ironic/sarcastic saying dumb conservative things as a bit but, they would also address that every now and then by saying things like “If you think we’re actually conservative, you’re a fucking idiot”. None of which really do that anymore after the show finished.
I only listed Stavy because he’s the most likely to appeal to young men. Adam Friedland’s talk show is very good, his interview with Ritchie Torres was great. IDK what Nick is up to these days.
I’ll start with maybe-not-a-great recommendation - I’ve certainly seen some (sometimes valid) criticism of them, and haven’t really watched myself (mostly been in a couple various podcast episodes I’ve listened to), but at least the criticism isn’t abhorrent like Vaush. The main reason is the content approach/style/appeal to g*mers is maybe somewhat similar-ish: Hasan Piker
I think overall there are probably better options out there for content, though maybe with less appeal to that audience. A couple podcasts I’ve recommended to people previously include: Citations Needed, Red Menace, The Deprogram. The creators behind each (often) also have other content, which I’m overall less familiar with, but presume is generally good.
I’m sure there’s more good stuff out there, too.
