“Slams” …I’m really getting sick of this crap journalism. This is a serious situation and these click bait headlines trivialize the gravity of the situation.
People have to stop acting like they are still in high school
It likely is primarily about regime change and oil, but I suspect that to some degree it is also about drugs.
It’s just that the goal there isn’t ending narcotics trafficking, but taking it over.

They might establish a drug trafficking regime like they did in Afghanistan but the existing narco-state angle is like Saddam’s WMDs. Drug trafficking in Venezuela is miniscule compared to Columbia and Ecuador. Its just bullshit Trump fabricated because he can’t label Maduro as an Islamist.

Your initial complaint was that the Democrats won’t do anything about it.
My comment intended to communicate that there’s nothing Democrats can do about it; hence, your ire towards them in this context is misplaced at best, or actively propagandist.
It’s always weird when the liberals are on lemmy. They can go back to reddit. Dems aren’t going to do shit because they’re controlled opposition and the best case scenario is the liberals crawling around on lemmy will find out the hard way.
What exactly are you expecting them to do without control of any part of the government? Stage a coup?
At the very LEAST focus on an election campaign that isn’t just “we’re not Trump”
The DNC seems to be moving in a better direction, we’ll see if they manage to not ratfuck the primary next time. If they get a landslide in the midterms they’d at least be able to mitigate a good deal of the shenanigans.
Are they? Because it seems to me like they’re trying to push Gavin fucking Newsom as their next candidate.
Gavin Newsom is certainly positioning himself for a primary bid, but I haven’t seen DNC leadership backing him? I think the chances of having a proper primary (which Newsom hopefully will not win) are a lot better with a grassroots-focused guy like Ken Martin as the DNC chair than with Debbie Wasserman Schultz. However, Tom Perez was supposed to be fairly progressive and his DNC still rigged the primary for Biden, so it’s too early to really tell.
I haven’t seen anything that makes me think the DNC will do anything but pivot more to the right, and until they prove to me that they’re going to do more than they did with Obama or Biden or Clinton then I’m not going to see them as an effective way to fight fascism or a real alternative to doing actual revolutionary activism. You’d have to be an absolute buffoon to keep falling for this shit over and over again after so long.

Our fascists (US here) have got the game plan a little further along, but as Hitler did, giddy on victory, they’ll bite off more than they can chew, choking on administrating it all. And the hometown crowd ain’t so quiet. Also, we won’t have the temporary economic boost, lots of angry people left out. Also, many of us have near military-grade rifles and, while scared shitless of dying, will do so if they come to our doorstep.
Ma’am, with the greatest possible respect, you people need to be doing a lot more than that to unfuck your country.
