After seeing a megathread praising Mao Zedong, an actual mass killer, and a post about a guy saying “99% of westerners are 100000000000% sure they know what happened in ‘Tiny Man Square’ […] the reasons for this are complex and involve propaganda […],” I am genuinely curious what leads people to this belief system. Even if propaganda is involved when it comes to Tiananmen Square, it doesn’t change the atrocities that were/are committed everywhere else in China.
I am all for letting people believe what they want but I am lost on why one would deliberately praise any authoritarian system this hard.
Can someone please help me understand why this is such a large and prominent community? How have these ideals garnered such a following outside of China?
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has responded! This thread has been very insightful :)

Lol learn to read
You first.
Seriously though, you’re not helping your credibility by responding in ways that clearly indicate you’ve misread the comments you’re responding to
Sure you don’t want to try urinating on yourself?
If nothing else, it might convince some in the working class that you’re actually human.
The inclusion of your piss kink isn’t helping your credibility either
I’m not the one brigading an anarchist instance to try and prove my (alleged) “credibility.”
“Brigading” lol I’m sure it makes you feel better to imagine you’re the victim of some big mean tankie conspiracy rather than just another person being wrong on the internet and getting upset when people who know better inevitably arrive to correct you
Sooo… I’m still not the one brigading an anarchist instance to try and prove my (alleged) “credibility.”
Anything’s possible when you make shit up kiddo
