Not everything is propaganda man, using that argument against people’s directly observed comparisons and preferences kinda undermines the whole idea. It’s easy to get blindly optimistic about exciting new tech (electric cars are probably the biggest one here) but nothing is universally applicable and you need to have some faith that your fellow man is an intelligent, thinking being trying to navigate this world just like you
